What Houston coverage means here

Greater Houston is served by the Houston Association of REALTORS®, which operates the MLS for the Houston region and the surrounding counties, including Harris, Fort Bend, Montgomery, Brazoria and Galveston.
HAR membership and MLS dues are held in your own name and billed to you directly, so your access moves with you rather than with the brokerage.
A different market shape from Austin
Houston is the larger metro by volume and spreads across more counties and submarkets. Average sale prices are generally lower than Austin's, so per-transaction commissions are typically smaller and volume matters more to the comparison.
That tends to favour a flat fee once you are closing steadily, because the fixed cost is spread across more transactions.
Working both metros under one sponsorship
A number of agents work the Houston-to-Austin corridor. You can operate in both markets under a single CapTex sponsorship, so there is one membership fee rather than two.
